Dundee Curling Club

Not all curling clubs are identical. Clubs have different memberships and preferences so offer different experiences to new curlers. We believe Dundee CC is small enough to provide a good environment where you can develop and grow as a curler, whilst also big enough to allow access to the full experience the sport of curling offers, locally, nationally and internationally.

Dundee CC offers a great balance between competitive curling, both in Dundee and Forfar, with good fellowship and good humour. We have a strong, committed membership that allows us to offer a wide range of curling opportunities. These include:

Internal Competitions

Due to our strong membership numbers and commitment, we are able to run Internal Competitions throughout the season in the form of Team League, Pairs League and Team Knockout.

We also have one-off “events” throughout the season in the form of Club Points Competition, Opening and Closing Bonspiels – usually with food included in Forfar on a Weekend afternoon.

External Competitions

As a club we enter rinks in all the Dundee based inter-club competitions, Phin League (Tuesday), Thornton League (Monday), Panmure Pairs, etc. We also enter rinks in several of the Forfar based inter-club competitions such as the Agricar League on a Thursday evening and the Rinks KO. This provides a great opportunity to share the ice with fellow curlers of other clubs and deepen relationships between clubs.

Dundee CC “Up wi’ the Bonnets” International Bonspiel

We host an annual International Bonspiel, currently held in Stranraer, where we invite curlers from Germany, Belgium, Holland and throughout Scotland to compete over a great weekend, usually in February. This is a highlight of the curling season, and although many in the club don’t attend, it’s a very well supported and vibrant event.

Bonspiels in Europe

Our extensive contacts with curlers in Europe have added a real extra dimension to our curling fellowship and formed a great sense of belonging for those involved. We send rinks to participate in various Bonspiels in Germany and Belgium, based on long term relationships forged on the ice – and in the bar!

Annual Club Dinner & Prizegiving

In addition to the curling opportunities, we also have a really well appreciated annual dinner and prizegiving in addition to the meals we share at the start and end of the season.

Of course, each individual member chooses what they wish to be involved in, and nobody does all the above, but the diversity of opportunities means there is a place for everybody in the club.

Dundee CC prides itself on a committed member of the “Curling Community” and recognises the “Spirit of Curling” as being of great value and to be demonstrated in all we do. The emphasis on fellowship as well as competition is how we act out this commitment.
